Fiduciary Financial Planner For New Jersey Based Widows, Special Needs Families, And Those Who Have Lost A Parent
How I Help You:
Widows & Widowers
I try not to just answer your questions, but to help you understand the concepts and rational behind my recommendations. I’ll review if you qualify for Social Security Survivor benefits, when you should apply, and determine when you should start your own benefits. I’ll also help guide you through tax planning on an increased “Single tax payer” tax bracket.
Special Needs Families
Navigating both retirement and planning for your special needs child can be overwhelming. I help you and your family answer: Do we need a trust? What happens when we go from SSI to SSDI? When does Medicare start? Should we have an ABLE account?
Those who have recently lost a parent
I’ll help you determine when you need to take your Required Minimum Distributions from your parent’s retirement plans. If you fall under the “10-year rule” I’ll design a withdrawal strategy that aligns with your overall tax plan. If needed, I can help guide you through the estate process.
“In times of uncertainty, remember you are not alone. While it’s natural to feel overwhelmed, there can be hope and confidence when we work together to get organized and create a plan.”
Nicholas J. Scheibner, CFP®, EA

Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a Fiduciary?*
Yes. As a Registered Investment Advisor with the state of New Jersey, I am required to be a Fiduciary to my clients. I am also a member of NAPFA and do not sell any investment or insurance products. I make no commissions off of my recommendations.
How much does this cost?
I charge a percentage of the investments I am managing for you. The charge only starts once I begin investing. This percentage is 1% per year on the first $2,000,000 and 0.5% per year on amounts above $2,000,000.
How does this work?
You will be working directly with me. I will have 2 full scale review meetings each year and you will receive quarterly statements from me. However, I am only a quick email, phone call, or Zoom meeting away to discuss any question or concern you may have. I mainly work from home, but I am happy to meet you in person at a location convenient for you or my meeting location in Ridgewood, NJ.
How do I know you can help me?
By setting up a conversation. Even if I may not be a good fit for you, I will do my best to guide you to the right solution that fits your needs.
